Ahoy There Maties! Welcome to an early July edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club Newsletter. This is brought to you in part from all of us here stuck on this dreary little island, and also to the many folks who have sent their e-mail telling us about the latest in Gilligan news. Bob Denver (Gilligan) has been nominated to receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame! http://profilesinhistory.com is raising the money to fund this project in an on-line auction being held this Saturday (June 26) by http://www.livebid.com. For sale is the infamous "Teddy bear" from Mr. Howell!!!! Amazing! Would that be a collector's item or what? If I had the money, I would definitely grab it! Oh well. Go to our site at: http://home.san.rr.com/gilligan/wof.html for more details. Check out E-bay this Thursday (June 24th)!!! For sale is one of the original shirts worn by Gilligan himself on the series. (Now wouldn't THAT be something to own!!!) Check out this extraordinary collectible at: http://www.ebay.com/ type in the searcher: gilligan shirt Did you chat with Gilligan, Professor and Mary Ann during the AOL chat session? If you didn't, you didn't miss much! I was very disappointed about the whole thing. It was like I was just starring at the screen instead of participating. It wasn't the fault of Bob, Dawn and Russell, just an overcrowded AOL I guess. The full chat script is on our page at: http://home.san.rr.com/gilligan/aol.html Skinny Mulligan informed me of all the details to the island seen in the opening credits of the show (Coconut Island). Since he lives about 10 minutes from the island, he was willing to share his expertise. You can see this interesting info here: http://home.san.rr.com/gilligan/coconut.html Judy Koons was looking at some old pictures of her dad, and low and behold... she noticed 6 year old Russell Johnson (Professor) in the photo's! Here are the pictures for your enjoyment: http://home.san.rr.com/gilligan/russell.html#1 People keep seeing the commercials from Mary Ann and the Professor on TV, but I haven't seen one! (No TV where I am) If anybody has these on VHS, please let me know so we can put it on the page. We'll put your name up in lights of course! Remember the "Far Out Space Nuts" starring Bob Denver and Chuck McCann? If not, then point your browser to http://www.connecti.com/~gmclain/krofft/FOSN.html The VHS is coming out around July 13th and can be purchased at amazon.com. Due to popular requests, I have changed the gifont download to an .exe file so you won't have to unzip it anymore, just rename it. http://home.san.rr.com/gilligan/gifont.html Anybody with information about the Gilligan's Bar in San Destin, Florida, please let me know. OK, just to clear the air. I meant to say deceased in the June newsletter, NOT diseased when talking about the castaways who have died. OK, I feel better now. The trivia site is in trouble, and we've been looking for somebody to make us a daily trivia. We've had some bites, but they have seemed to fall through. If anybody out here is a programmer, or can make a daily trivia site for us, we will give you the job! Another Gilligan Restaurant? Yep! Here is what was sent to me by Ken Donnelly of Australia. I live in Melbourne, the capital of Victoria The 2nd largest population in Australia (3.7mil; Australia's pop.:18.8mil). When visiting my "In-Laws" on Thursday 6th May down at their place in Geelong (70 miles south West of Melbourne), we decided to eat "Fish & Chips" for tea (evening meal). I was really excited when I found the perfect Fish & Chip restaurant. It was called "Gilligans Fish & Chip Restaurant: The Best in Geelong!" The address is: Gilligans Fish & Chip Restaurant The Waterfront Rd Geelong City Geelong 3220 Victoria, Australia It is a rather small establishment but with palm trees etc is made to look like the island. And this was sent to me from a very happy radio manager from England. He writes: I just wanted to let the world know how kind Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) has been to Alaska. I live on my own "Gilligan's Island" in the Aluetian Chain. A Small Island called Popof. Dawn Wells dedicated time and donated money to our radio station to give the kids on our island free "Kid Care Photo Id's". I got to talk to her personally as I am the manager/dj/prog. director/ it's all a one man show, of the local public radio station. I contacted her and she and Lori were wonderful. Truly, Dawn was everything I could have ever imagined. She did a Public Service Announcement, donated money to help pay for the pictures and bolstered the status of the radio station 100 fold. In my youth Mary-Ann and the whole gang were there for me and in my adult life they still are. I could never express the gratitude and respect I hold for her. If you ever see her personally. Could you tell her thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If a month goes by and you don't receive a newsletter, please drop me a line. Our database is far from professional, and we delete users who's e-mail returns as a failure. Sometimes it is due to a server problem, but most of the time it's due to AOL folks who ran out of their 30 day trial period. Also if you receive this letter twice, please let me know. I would like you to know that I'm not the only one working here. Occasionally other castaways give me a hand, with Mary Ann being the busiest!!! She's our very own secretary, and she's in charge of receiving the new fan mail when they join, and also updates the daily trivia site. Without Mary Ann, we would surely be lost! If you have any questions regarding Gilligan's Island, you can e-mail our very knowledgeable cast. Mary Ann: doodee@roxboro.net Professor: jabcpudr@epix.net Skipper: theoleskip@aol.com Thurston: cd006485@mindspring.com Ginger: lauram@maingate.net lovey: No Lovey I guess that's all for now. Please spread the word about the Gilligan's Star in Hollywood and I'll let you know when to appear in Los Angeles for his debut. I discovered that the pancake syrup we use on the island is a great glue!. I'm headed to the beach right now to glue the minnow back together. Hope to see you on the mainland soon! Until then, "Smooth Sailing." Willy Gilligan Webmaster/President Gilligan's Island Fan Club www.gilligansisle.com
