Ahoy There! Welcome to the November edition of the Official Gilligan's Island Fan Club. I trust you had a great Halloween, I know we did. The Howell's threw another party this year, and as always, everybody had a blast! Mary Ann baked a couple of her best pumpkin pies, Ginger performed a seance using her crystal ball, then she put on a show for us, the Professor made a haunted house with real vampire bats, Lovey was trying to get Mary Ann to marry me, Thurston and the Skipper were shooting pool and I was eating all of the pumpkin pies! After all of this we sat around the camp fire at the beach and told ghost stories. I was too scared to sleep that night! Tons of people have written to us asking where to purchase a Gilligan shirt. I have no idea. Folks have said that they found one, but they never tell me where they got it. The only way I know how to get a shirt is to make one yourself. Go to K-Mart, Target, the Good Will, wherever you can and get a long sleeved red shirt. Then buy a white shirt and pay a tailor to make a Gilligan shirt for you. If anybody knows where to get a Gilligan shirt, please enlighten us. Interesting fact: Did you know that "Rescue From Gilligan's Island" was the FIRST movie ever made from a television series? It sounds weird, but it's true! This historic event took place on October 14, 1978 and started a whole new trend. You can watch "Rescue From Gilligan's Island" on Sun Nov 12 08:15A, TBS One of our fan club members Lt. John flew over the REAL Gilligan's Island in Hawaii and took a great picture of it from his cockpit! This is a must see. http://www.gilligansisle.com/aerial.html How about a good old Gilligan's Island theme sung in Punk Rock? This Canadian band, Rude Norton, tried their best! Thanks goes out to Ivan who sent us the tape. Hear it in RealAudio here: http://www.gilligansisle.com/realaudio.html We mentioned this in the last newsletter and since Christmas is almost here, we felt it appropriate to keep this on the main page. Reverend Troy is putting on a Gilligan's Island play at his church entitled "The Castaway's Christmas." The whole script is up, and he did a marvelous job! http://www.gilligansisle.com/christmas.html We have had the Gilligan's Island pinball machine up on our site for a couple of years now, but we never had the sounds from the game. We do now thanks to Harold Balde and other pictures have been added as well. Bud Zeller is another pinhead and is selling clocks made from the backglass of the pinball game. Christmas is coming up, so maybe you know a Gilligan fan that would love one of these. $5 off if you mention that you are a fan club member. http://www.gilligansisle.com/pinball.html The Austin County Fair held a parade this year, and the winner was the folks who built a Gilligan's Island float! This looks amazing! You'll see what I mean when you visit the float here: http://www.gilligansisle.com/float.html I was speaking to Bob Denver's wife Dreama, and she has volunteered to maintain the web site for Dawn Wells (Mary Ann). She did a great job, and you can see it here: http://www.dawnwells.com Are you fortunate enough to own the Gilligan's Island Nintendo game? If you are, then you may be interested in the cheat codes to it as well. If so, check out our Nintendo section: http://www.gilligansisle.com/nintendo.html In our last newsletter I messed up...again. Marshall actually made the voyager Gilligan theme, not Danny Stewart. You can see it here: http://www.batcave.net/arts/visual/voyagerisle/ I've got a video of the Ikea commercial, but it's only in .mov format. If anybody knows how to make a .mov into an .avi, I can put it on the page for all to see. Let's CHAT! Next Saturday, November 11. http://www.gilligansisle.com/chat.html Tired of complaining about not receiving the last third of your Columbia House video's? I know I am. Let's bombard them with more e-mails letting them know how disappointed we are that they STILL haven't released the last 10 Gilligan's Island video's from the Columbia House collection! Even if you don't own the video's, please help us with this cause. Let's use this e-mail: customer_service@columbiahouse.com GILLIGAN TV: "ALF" visits "Gilligan's Island" castaways Gilligan (Bob Denver), the Skipper (Alan Hale), the Professor (Russell Johnson) and Mary Ann (Dawn Wells). Mon Nov 13 05:30P VISN- Odyssey A WORD FROM OUR FAN CLUB MEMBERS: Madeleine Karipidis writes: Lovey was on The Brady Bunch too, she played this lady talking to Cindy, and She looked quite wealthy. On another episode, Lovey was one of Mike's difficult clients and ended up singing "on the good ship lollypop." From: Charles Cairns, LCillino@aol.com and Jerry: Backus also played Harry Mathews in the Brady Bunch episode called "The Hustler," in which Bobby embarrasses his dad by repeatedly beating his client (Backus) at the new family pool table. I believe the bet was several cases of gum. Again, I didn't think I had all this info to tell you when I started, but I was wrong. See you next month. "Smooth Sailing."
