Ahoy There Maties! Quote of the month: Thurston: This is a very difficult instrument (the Triangle). It's easy to play a wind instrument. Skipper: Yeah, especially for you with all that hot air. Thurston: Heavens to Toscanini! I've been insulted! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Welcome to the February edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. To start it off, I goofed on the very first newsletter of the year 2002. I put year 2000 in the subject line instead of 2002. All 2,400 of you didn't catch it, or didn't care, except for one person... Cliff. I guess that's why they call me Gilligan. If you ever want to know when the next Gilligan's Island is coming on TV, then just go here and type in Bob Denver. It will show you everything 'Gilligan's Island' related including the specials. http://www.tv-now.com/stars/stars.html The WBAP radio station http://www.wbap.com in Dallas Fort Worth Texas, held a boat giveaway with a Gilligan's Island theme. The participants were required to stay on the boat 24 hours a day (except for 10 minute breaks each day) and one contestant was voted off each morning. Last one on the boat took it home. Contestants were required to wear a costume based on their character. Not sure who won but they are a boat richer! Spillin.com (http://www.spillin.com) is preparing for their annual St. Patrick's Day party in Pocahontas, IA. The party is called "Spillin' of the Green", or "Spillin" for short. Each year they try and come up with a new theme which dictates the clothing and contests. Last year they used "Spillvivor" and had their own little survivor contest complete with a food challenge that included live minnows in a shot of tequila. This year they have decided on the theme of "Spilligan's Island" using the clothing theme of the characters (of course all in green, ugly green). This is an adult only party, no youngin's allowed. If you're Irish and live close to Pocahontas, IA (who doesn't)? then maybe this is for you. Happy Spillin'. Rumor has it that "Gilligan" is making its way to the feature world with Universal Pictures. That's all I know. Maybe we'll hear something soon! For now I guess we'll just have to see 'Spiderman' and 'Star Wars' in March! One of our fan club members celebrated his 30th birthday with a Gilligan's Island party! Of the 20 people that attended only 2 didn't wear costumes, and several people came up with great interpretations of characters! John played Gilligan. The Professor looked almost just like the real mccoy! Mary Ann resembled herself pretty good too. Check out his party at: http://www.melonpool.com/Gilligan1.html One of our members sent away for the Gilligan's Island Dart Flip Card Set and was very disappointed with the time it took to get the product. The page has been since changed so that there is no pricing information, and a phone number in Canada must be called to place your order. You can also find these cards on ebay sometimes. http://www.gilligansisle.com/dart.html The Rescue From Gilligan's Island CD has been removed from our site. It seems that there are scenes missing, several choppy scenes, etc. So I guess that's why these things are going for only 5 bucks! From member Erin: I was just wondering if you have heard Weird Al's 'Living in an Amish Paradise'. Just wanted to let you know he has a Gilligan's Island reference in it! He's singing about living the Amish way and in one part he says, "No phones, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury, like Robinson Crusoe, it's as primitive as can be!" Well, did you show up to the Gilligan's Island Birthday Bash? Apparently 89 signed up. http://www.evite.com/r?iid=SMYEGMESTHEOSQLKVNUH Apparently the Chat Room has been down for a while and nobody ever told me about it. Just goes to show you how many people use it. Anyways, it's fixed. Stop on by this Saturday night and give it a shot. Just type in any user name you want and off you go. Let's see who's the king of Gilligan trivia! http://www.gilligansisle.com/chat.html Well, I've gotta go. Mary Ann wants to hear the RealAudio version of "Old Doctor Young." What? (mumble....mumble....mumble....) She says that if she doesn't hear it soon, she refuses to make us our Coconut Cream pie for dinner tonight. So............. gotta go!
