Ahoy Maties! Welcome to the September 2002 edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club newsletter. Enough small talk, let's get right to it! The Professor has been sighted and you can see him too! He will make an appearance in Portland, Oregon on September 21 and 22 at the Holiday Inn at the airport. He will have Twilight Zone and Gilligan's Island photo's there to autograph. Get your vcr's repaired and cleaned because TV Land is showing Gilligan's Island in order! They are already up to episode 10 and will hopefully air the whole season! If you missed some episodes in your vhs collection, then now is the time to make it complete! The Gilligan's Island Fan Club has just become famous! There is a movie out called "An Extremely Goofy Movie" starring Goofy from Disney. Goofy was talking to this librarian and they were on the subject of collecting 70's memorabilia. Goofy pulls out this shell whistle and says, "You see this? This is a Gilligan's Island Fan Club whistle." And the librarian says, "Oh! Remember that one where the Professor built an engine out of coconuts?" I watched it and it was true! If you rent the movie it's about 35 minutes into the tape. Kids will like this movie. Thanks to Sarah for letting us know. Not only are we famous, but we now have a Gilligan's Island French site thanks to our French Canadian buddy Denis. If you know French, then this will be pretty cool: http://www.angelfire.com/emo/lesjoyeuxnaufrages/ Chick Hearn (voice of the LA Lakers Died last month). True fans of Gilligan's Island would remember Mr. Hearn on at least one occasion as the voice on the Castaway radio. He also was the host of "Bowling For Dollars." (Am I the only one who remembers that?) From member StrTrkker: Those folks with cell phones that have changeable ring tones can download different ring tones. There is a Gilligan's Island tone that is way cool. The D/L process is quick n easy. Listen to the ring tones you may want to D/L to your cell phone.....hit send button to D/L the tone...... enter your 10 digit cell phone number (Area Code + Number)...then choose your wireless company (Cingular, Verizon, Etc.....) Then after about 2-4 minutes your cell phone will beep to indicate you have a D/L and at that time you can listen to the tone and save it to your lists of ring tones. Of course.....depending on your wireless company you may or may not have this feature available. http://www.supermegaphone.com/home.htm This newsletter was a short and sweet one. I've been spending a lot of time with the Professor lately. He just built an airplane made out of a coconut tree. What he's trying to do is find a bunch of vines and string it across the back of this plane and "Sling-Shoot" me over to Hawaii! We are currently looking for a few good trees to tie the vine on to. Once that is done, I'll be flying in no time! I can't wait! See you soon! Willy Gilligan President/Webmaster Official Gilligan's Island Fan Club http://www.gilligansisle.com
