Ahoy There Maties! QUOTE OF THE MONTH: Thurston: Do you think I began a dozen international corporations by stooping to thievery? Professor: Well, of course not! Thurston: Shows how naive you are. How else do you get to the top of the corporate ladder! Welcome to the December 2002 edition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club. Thanksgiving has come and gone and we are all about 12 pounds heavier...except for me of course. I actually lost 5 pounds! The Skipper caught a wild boar, I caught some fish and the girl's prepared it all including Mary Ann's famous coconut cream pie! The Professor made a delicious seaweed salad dressing and the Howell's? Well, they just ate. Thurston ate too much and got a belly ache. We are now decorating the island for another Christmas. Maybe we'll have some bbq spare ribs this year. Again, not too much going on in the Gilligan world, but we do have a couple of tidbits for you. Let's all get together and CHAT on Saturday! Meet other fans and talk it up! No password required. http://www.gilligansisle.com/chat.html Our message section has grown to over 6,000 messages. There is a new link in our links section called to "GI Romance Fanfic Site." It's a site that goes a little further and tells the story in her own way. http://home.earthlink.net/~bseinberg/pmafic.html Please let us know if you see a bad link on our site. I was searching for something on our site and found whole pages missing. Other pages had major typo's. Thanks for your help. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ And now for some fan mail. I have wanted to write for a long time and say how much my friends and I love your web site and the TV show. I am a long time model maker and some years ago I built this lagoon miniature for my friend and fellow Gilligan fan, Mike Dodd. I am storing it for him while he moves to a new home so I thought this might be a good time to send you some photos. It is made to resemble CBS studios in the 60s and I had a great time making it. I hope that you can post it here with the fan club. It would be an honor to be part of this page. Kyle Clark http://www.gilligansisle.com/images/island1.jpg [Editor Note] Kyle's model is amazing!!! Check out relaxing Mary Ann! I watch Gilligan's Island every night now that it is on TV Land at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. I have noticed new scenes that I have never seen before. I don't know whether TBS had cut them out in the past. The tapes that TV Land bought might be the original ones. These new scenes clear up some discrepancies in the story line that I have noticed in the past. They are great to watch. Matthew Gallagher [Ed Note] Yes, there are stations that carry longer versions of the episodes. Other stations remove entirely way too much footage in order to pack in as many commercials as they can! It's a darn shame. Hey you forgot to mention that the theme song to Gilligan's Island made it on TV guides 50 best TV theme songs of all time cd. It is being sold in stores now. Jeff Stutsman TO answer your question; The Ghost was a Russian spy who was instructed to explore why the island was being occupied by Americans and what their mission for the US government was. He did not know they were ship wrecked. He was trying to scare them off the island and then tried to kill them. Russia still wanted to set up a spy center there with the possibility of setting up a oil drilling station as cover for their operation. This was a similar situation to the one where the Russian had surgery to look like Gilligan. He was talking to his comrades on a sub that was hiding just off the beach. When he was scared off he threw his radio away and swam back to the sub. The radio was broken when it hit the ground and since walkie talkie radios in the 60's would only have a range of about 2 miles then it would have been useless to the castaways. Beside it was on a secret Russian frequency and could not be heard by anyone but the Russian sub and they would not answer them. John Not too long ago I joined the club. I was wondering if you accept any type of submissions. I've created two computer wallpapers that might be fun for fellow fans. They are just fan art, so no money is made from them. Both download as .jpg's, and they are 800 x 600 in size. If you're interested, they're at: http://www.smartgroups.com/vault/countessshefluffster/Fun%20Wallpapers/TellTheSkipper.jpg http://www.smartgroups.com/vault/countessshefluffster/Fun%20Wallpapers/MrMagoo.jpg The Countess Hi, I'm just responding to your Oct. newsletter about a place in Sarasota Fla. named "Gilligans". I was in Sarasota this month, and the place I think you are talking about is on Siesta Key. It sits in the "downtown" of Siesta Key which is called the village. It's bar, grill type place with outdoor seating. This is the only place I know in the Sarasota area that is called "Gilligans" ----but there maybe 2 places!!! Hope this helps!!! Smooth sailing. Ann Morris ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Well it's time for me to start decorating the island for Christmas. There are a lot of coconut trees to hang ornaments on. Maybe I can ask my friend Gladys to help me out. Last time I was decorating, I picked the highest palm tree to climb and I fell and sprained my nose! Now I'm afraid of heights. Have a wonderful Christmas and we'll see you next year.
