Ahoy Maties! Welcome to the August addition of the Gilligan's Island Fan Club Newsletter. This month wasn't nearly as exciting as the last, but we still have some goodies for you. The club has grown to over 1,600 members worldwide! To keep in touch with most of them, you can go to our message or chat sections. Apparently Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) did not send Bob Denver (Gilligan) the package that got him in trouble as rumored. I suppose that if the package came from Washington state, then the press would have said that the "Professor" sent Bob the goods. Leave it to the press! A very popular rock band in Australia called "Brill" just recorded their new song "Mary Ann." I was sent the CD and out of all the Gilligan-related songs that I have heard, I really think that this one was the best! It's really quite catchy and I think it will do well when it's released. Visit their page and even e-mail the lead singer if you wish. Our site also has a short sample of the song. We will have more details on where you can order the CD and price in the next newsletter. (Hopefully) http://www.lookup.com/homepages/58181/brill.html The homepage server has been giving us problems lately, and hopefully in the near future we will have our own server, possibly this month. Sorry for the inconvenience. I have been receiving a ton of e-mail with the concerning the reset at the first of the month, and why some people already have 25 correct answers. I have reported this glitch to the system administrator but he hasn't been able to contact me for some reason. The trivia site was designed by him and is located on his server at work. Many problems are associated with the daily trivia, but it looks as if they won't be fixed until I can make contact with him. Until then, just play for fun. I'm just happy he hasn't pulled the plug on the game yet. We also have two new helpers that are writing the daily trivia. Mary Ann and the Professor are now adding the questions and they are doing a wonderful job! Ginger was helping us, but she couldn't get IE to work on her computer, and since the trivia site is not functioning properly, Netscape wasn't able to add questions. She'll help out when she can. We've got the Billy Crystal Oscar Night opening theme song here on the site! Just point your browser to hear the "Gilligan's Island" theme from the Oscar's ceremony. http://www.lookup.com/homepages/58181/oscar.html Thankx Ryaneff for supplying us with the Oscar song and lyrics! Club member Phil tells us that a recent e-mail followed by a phone conversation revealed that Columbia House is still working on the final tapes of the Gilligan's Island series. They told him that past members of the monthly series will be notified by mail of any addition to the Gilligan's Island series. I have been contacted by Rick Mechelse, a sales rep. for the Book Depot, and he informs me that he has to get rid of all of his "Here on Gilligan's Isle" books written by Russell Johnson (Professor). He is selling them for $2.25/book, plus shipping, but you need to buy all 192 books for that price. The retail value of each book is $12.00. If any of you are interested, you can e-mail Rick at: rick@book-depot.com Want to see what Bob Denver (Gilligan) did before "Gilligan's Island?" If so, turn your TV to the Fox Movie Channel on the dates below and watch him play Dobie Gillis.
